J.R. Smith won’t have to reach out for lucrative NBA deal…his offensive skills (on display in China) will demand it.

NBA players are in a mad scramble to get in top condition for the upcoming season, but one player that should be rett-ta-go right now is J.R. SMITH. The Denver Nuggets‘ free agent guard that never met a shot he didn’t like is finishing up his time in China with this 46-point performance vs. Jiangsu on Wednesday…

Playing in for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls has allowed J.R. the freedom to be the offensive powerhouse he has the ability to be…and the singular focus on offense as well.

Word has it that Smith and NY Knicks guard Wilson Chandler are having a difficult time getting out of their China contracts as they prepare to head back to the States and the NBA. One report states that Chinese Basketball Association officials may demand that Smith and Chandler return all their earnings from balling in China, including agent fees and an additional $1 million. And Smith signed a lucrative CBA deal.

As much as Smith must love playing in China and being the man, he has to be eager to get back to the NBA. As a free agent, he stands to cop a hefty pay raise with his next contract, more than enough to buyout his CBA deal.

He’ll won’t likely “be the man” on his next NBA team, but he’ll still “be the man” in terms of his wallet!
