With their playoff hopes fading fast, the Chicago Bears suffered a back-breaking 38-14 loss at home to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday…quite literally. Early in the game, Bears receiver JOHNNY KNOX makes a 17-yard reception and then loses the football. In his haste to recover the ball, Knox gets crushed head-on by Seahawks defender ANTHONY HARGROVE, bending his torso in ways not meant for human absorption…

Knox suffered what is being termed a “mid-back injury” and was immediately tended to by the Bears medical staff before being carted off the field on a stretcher and sent to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

Knox is bent backwards by Hargrove in such a way that may cause him back trouble for the rest of his career.

Bears head coach Lovie Smith said Knox has full use of his extremities and did not suffer any paralysis from the collision.

“He has total movement throughout his body, has total use of all his extremities, which is good,” Smith said. “We’re doing tests right now. He has total movement. He’s not paralyzed or anything.”

That’s good news because if I were to guess, I’d say Knox appears to have sustained a broken back.

Talk about hard knox. Geez.
