Carmelo Anthony’s fireplace painting in Manhattan has a certain Ian Fleming-James Bond-007 purple flair to it.

From the TERRELL OWENS “I Love Me Some Me” files: I think it’s safe to say CARMELO ANTHONY is a disciple. The New York Knicks superstar’s celeb wife, LA LA VAZQUEZ-ANTHONY, recently told the NY Post that the couple commissioned renown artist Paul Gerben to design a huge portrait of Melo for the couple’s Hell’s Kitchen apartment in Manhattan. As you can see, this piece of Bond-like vanity hangs above the Anthonys fireplace…

How much of a role did Melo play in designing the couple’s home? This is what La La told the Post:

How much input has Carmelo had in the design of your home or did you manage the project yourself?

Believe it or not, he has more input and gets more involved than I do. He was really into working with the decorator, Alicia Darby, who also decorated our home in LA.

Have you recently purchased any artwork? What is your favorite piece?

This past Christmas, we purchased a huge, modern picture of my husband from the artist Paul Gerben, whose studio is located in SoHo. It was great to be directly in touch with the artist himself, which enabled us to create this fantastic, very large and abstract piece that we love.

Very large indeed. Abstract, not all that much.

Listen, can you blame the guy for being somewhat narcissistic? After all, Melo is a larger-than-life figure for the Knicks that also has come up huge lately for New York during their playoff push. The guy even won an NCAA championship in his only year of college. I imagine the ego comes with the territory.

You know what would really be huge though? Melo painting a perfect playoff picture for the Knicks this spring.
