Free agency is on the horizon for KYRIE IRVING and clearly the prospect that the Cavaliers star point guard may decide to leave Cleveland is on the minds of Cavs fans everywhere. Even young children. One young kid posed the question to Irving during a local community Q&A, asking Kyrie: “Are you going to leave us like LeBron left us?” Check Kyrie’s answer below…

After acknowledging that it was a great question the boy asked, Irving said, “Um, no, I won’t leave. I’m not leaving.”

As we adults all know, pro basketball is first and foremost a business. And NBA players are well in tune to that fact. Yet it has to pull at a player’s heart when a youngster—especially one from sports ravaged Cleveland—asks a question like that. Irving has to feel some sort of obligation to stay.

Irving successfully replaced LeBron as the superstar figurehead in Cleveland. Folks want him to stick around.

Yet the real attraction to Irving staying is that he has a promising young nucleus of players in Cleveland which he has established quite a bond. And if Andrew Bynum can somehow find his way onto the court and become a force, maybe that will solidify things in Kyrie’s mind. But of course, Cleveland management will have to somehow show Kyrie the money.

But all things being said, I’m sure Kyrie Irving doesn’t want to look like a liar and disappoint that little boy.
