The heat is on: Perhaps feeling the weight of a second chance with Miami, Beasley is clobbering himself to succeed.

Thursday night during Miami’s 112-97 preseason win over Detroit, Heat forward MICHAEL BEASLEY literally beat himself up by punching himself repeatedly in the head.

This, according to the Miami Herald:

Upset with himself over missing a shot, Beasley started punching himself in the head while running back on defense. He punched himself so hard that he needed treatment after the game from the Heat’s trainer. Steel compresses (like the ones cut doctors use in boxing) were applied to Beasley’s brow in the locker room.

Understanding that he is on a very short leash in the NBA with his history of drug and disciplinary problems, Beasley may be trying extra hard to succeed in his second stint with the team that originally drafted him No. 2 overall in 2008.

After all, the 6-foot-10 swing forward did say that it would be his fault if the Heat don’t three-peat this season.

Beasley’s teammates (particularly Dwyane Wade), Heat management and Miami fans are definitely rooting for him to be triumphant as evidenced by this video:

I don’t know about the Heat’s fate resting on Beasley’s shoulders but giving himself a standing eight-count during a basketball game is definitely weird behavior.

Is Bease really trying too hard or is it just a case of weed withdrawal? You decide.
