Dodger manager Don Mattingly says Puig plays with youthful enthusiasm of a little leaguer but with major ability.

The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back in the NLCS at home with a solid pitching performance from left hander HYUN-JIN RYU and the return of HANLEY RAMIREZ to the lineup but it was the magnetic exploits of energetic rook YASIEL PUIG that ignited the Dodger Stadium crowd after hitting what he thought was a two-run homer…

Mired in a NLCS 0-for-10 batting slump with six strikeouts, Puig snapped his funk with a blast to right field that he thought was gone. Celebrating while the ball hit the wall in play, Puig then put on his after burners to turn what he thought was a homer into a stand up triple.

The play scored a run for the Dodgers as they won, 3-0 and now trail in the series, 2-1.

Dodger catalysts: The play of Puig and Hanley Ramirez will be huge keys to L.A.’s chances of defeating Cards.

Puig’s energy on the base paths and Ramirez’s presence at the plate are essential to Dodger fortunes in this series. They’ll need more of the same from both if they are to tie up the series with the Cardinals Tuesday.
