Dime in the Rough: McCoy has always taken on the challenge of being the man. Saints game will be no different.

When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field this Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in the NFC Wild Card Game against New Orleans, they will do so featuring the NFL’s best running back this season: LESEAN MCCOY. And it will be the man nicknamed ‘Shady’ that must actually be the man if the Eagles intend on doing anything memorable this postseason.

“We’re made for the playoffs,” McCoy told NJ.com. “Everybody is so excited for us to be here, but we should be here. They’re excited about us being division champs, but I think we should be.

“We prepared hard and have so much talent on this team. We’re prepared to win this game. The Saints are a good team for sure, but the guys in this locker room, we want to get the job done.”

McCoy has gotten the job done in this his fifth NFL season. The former Milford Academy product led the NFL in rushing with 1,607 yards and totaled 2,146 total yards from scrimmage, also a league best. McCoy is the main cog in Eagles head coach Chip Kelly’s madcap offense and will figure greatly in Saturday’s outcome versus the Saints.

It’s been a tumultuous journey for LeSean to get to this point in his career. A culmination of highs and lows, peaks and valleys that has landed him in this weekend’s playoff opportunity to once again “be the man.” This epic video montage chronicles that journey…

“The playoffs are hard to get to, hard to stay, there is no tomorrow,” McCoy said on Wednesday.

Life lessons have taught the 25-year old McCoy the same thing which is why he carries the football like his life depends on it. In an ultra competitive way, it does.

And that’s why I wouldn’t bet against Shady McCoy this weekend. This is the moment he’s been cutting on dimes all these years for.
